Sarah E. Albert is an Associate in the Baltimore office of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., with a general environmental litigation and regulatory practice. The primary focus of her practice is complex litigation, which includes handling key aspects of defense for civil and criminal actions involving environmental matters. Ms. Albert has defended businesses and municipalities in a number of cases, including matters involving the Clean Water Act, the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and related state laws. Ms. Albert also has experience representing clients in litigation matters relating to bankruptcy, defamation, products liability, white-collar crime, and personal injury defense. Ms. Albert has counseled clients on a variety of regulatory issues, including compliance, auditing, permitting, and assistance with state environmental programs such as the Maryland Voluntary Cleanup Program. In addition, Ms. Albert has advised clients about the environmental aspects of corporate transactions. Ms. Albert received her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law (cum laude, 2005), where she served as an Articles Editor of the Maryland Law Review and was awarded a concentration in environmental law. While attending law school, she won the Roscoe Hogan Environmental Law Essay Contest, a national environmental law writing competition, for her essay on policies affecting wilderness preservation. Prior to joining Beveridge & Diamond, Ms. Albert worked at the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Environmental Enforcement Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
