Sean Roberts maintains a general environmental, regulatory, and litigation practice. Mr. Roberts counsels pesticide and biotechnology companies and task forces on regulatory, compliance, enforcement, and litigation matters under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and other federal, state, and international pesticide laws and regulations, and matters involving the intersection of pesticide law and other environmental statutes, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Endangered Species Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Water Act. He represents clients in matters under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), including negotiations with federal and state agencies over remedial actions and natural resource damages (NRD), and assists as common counsel to a group of potentially responsible parties. He also counsels clients on various aspects of the Clean Air Act and emerging climate change initiatives and a range of other environmental laws and regulations. In addition to his environmental concentration, Mr. Roberts represents pro bono clients in immigration proceedings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Immigration Court.
While attending Duke University School of Law, Sean served as an Executive Editor of the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum and a co-chair of the Environmental Law Society. During law school, he worked as a student clinician in the school’s Environmental Law Clinic and as a research assistant with the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions. Prior to attending law school, Sean was a research associate at a biotechnology company, where he was involved in cancer and diabetes drug development.
