Harold Himmelman was a Principal of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. for over twenty-five years, and is now Senior Counsel. He was the Firm's first Managing Principal and Chairman of the Management Committee. He has substantial experience in civil litigation of all types, alternative dispute resolution (as both an advocate and a neutral), regulatory, and commercial matters.

Mr. Himmelman has for many years been involved in service as a neutral (both as a mediator and as an arbitrator) in alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He is a mediator for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Mediation Programs, a senior member of the Panel of Neutrals for JAMS, and a member of the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution. His ADR service includes mediating and arbitrating cases involving complex multi-party disputes; business partnerships; commercial transactions; construction; contracts; False Claims Act; fraud; fiduciary duty; franchises (auto, food, hotel); intellectual property; technology; banking/investment; computer software; high-profile disputes involving federal and state governments; malpractice; employment (including whistle blower, race and age discrimination, executive tenure and compensation, and sexual harassment); shareholder actions; sports, entertainment and media; and environmental. He has been intensively trained in ADR by the federal courts, JAMS, and the American Arbitration Association. He teaches CLE courses, and lectures extensively on ADR before a variety of legal, corporate, and government audiences. 

Mr. Himmelman's law practice has concentrated on litigation and commercial transactions. His work has focused on issues related to the invention, registration, management, and marketing of proprietary agricultural chemical products. This work has included negotiations, ADR (including arbitrations), administrative proceedings, and litigation at all levels of the federal courts. Mr. Himmelman has prepared U.S. and worldwide joint data development agreements and related commercial supply and licensing agreements. In addition, he has worked extensively on forming and representing Task Forces comprising many national and multinational companies of all sizes which operate as joint ventures or limited liability companies to generate data and other information to meet government requirements.

Mr. Himmelman is a 1964 cum laude graduate of Williams College, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He is a 1967 graduate of New York University School of Law. He is admitted to the Bars of the District of Columbia, New York, the D.C. Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He served in the litigation section of the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division from 1967 to 1969 through the Department's Honors Law Program. Thereafter, he litigated jury and non-jury trials in commercial, tort, discrimination, and first amendment cases.

Mr. Himmelman has been involved in a number of nonprofit and sports-related activities over many years.
