Maryland's Governor-Elect, Martin O'Malley Plans to Nominate Shari T. Wilson to Head the Maryland Department of the Environment

Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., January 11, 2007

Maryland's Governor-Elect, Martin O'Malley plans to nominate Shari T. Wilson to head the Maryland Department of the Environment. Nominated cabinet secretaries must be confirmed by the State senate. An environmental attorney who began her career as a lawyer for the Maryland Department of the Environment, Wilson held high-level policy posts within the Glendening administration.  Among other issues, she has in-depth work experience with smart growth, brownfields and land use issues. Most recently, Wilson has worked for Baltimore City Solicitor's office. Pamela Marks, Of Counsel in the Firm's Baltimore Office and former attorney with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, who worked with Wilson, stated: "Ms. Wilson's experience and skills should enable her to jump right into her new post very capably.  Also, I expect that business and environmental groups alike will find her to be approachable and responsive."
