Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. Announces Comprehensive Nationwide Commitment to ABA-EPA Law Firm Climate-Challenge Program

Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. Press Release, June 8, 2007

Washington, D.C. – Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. (“B&D”), the environmental, land use, and litigation law firm, is pleased to announce that the Firm will participate fully in the new ABA-EPA Law Office Climate Challenge (the “Challenge”), a joint effort of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Bar Association involving three programs designed to promote environmental sustainability.  B&D is the first law firm to make commitments to all three Challenge programs at all of its offices nationwide.

“It is fitting that B&D is the first firm to commit to the full program, at all of its offices and at the highest levels of participation,” said Rob Brager, chair of the Firm’s Management Committee.  “Not only are we the nation’s leading environmental law firm, but Firm attorneys were also instrumental in bringing the ABA-EPA Climate Challenge program to life,” said Brager.  David Friedland, co-chair of the Firm’s Environmental Practice Group, and chair of the ABA Section of Environment Energy and Resources (SEER), Air Quality Committee and Daniel Eisenberg, an associate in the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office, oversaw the design and implementation of the program for SEER.

The Firm’s participation in the Challenge entails commitments to three separate programs:  (1) The Green Power Partnership, which promotes the use of renewable electricity through the purchase of credits that force “green power” to displace fossil fueled power, where the Firm is committed to participation at the highest (“Leadership”) level; (2) Best Practices for Office Paper Management, which promotes waste minimization, recycling and the use of recycled paper; and (3) Energy Star, which promotes energy efficiency and conservation through use of energy star certified computers, lighting, and other equipment used in our law offices.  B&D has distinguished itself in its participation in the ABA-EPA Law Office Climate Challenge by committing to implementation of each of these programs at all seven firm offices across the country -- Austin, Baltimore, Boston, New Jersey, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.  Over the next 12 months, the Firm will make investments and adopt systems designed to meet best practices of energy and environmental management consistent with the goals of the Challenge and beyond.
