West has joined the Firm as a Principal and Chair of its Real Estate Practice. Mr. West joins the Firm from the Washington, D.C. office of Covington & Burling, LLP. Mr. West’s accolades include the Washington Business Journal's award for "Best Financing of 2005" for the $222 million mixed-use redevelopment of the former Wax Museum site in Washington, D.C. now known as CityVista; and the Washington Business Journal's award for "Best Overall Real Estate Deal of 2005" for the D.C. Sports & Entertainment Commission's stadium negotiations with Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals. “We are delighted to have Ed West join our Firm. Mr. West's practice focuses on commercial real estate and commercial financing with an emphasis on real estate acquisition, development, leasing, and construction matters. Mr. West regularly represents local and national owners, real estate developers, property managers, tax-exempt organizations, and other users in all aspects of real estate transactions involving office buildings, shopping centers, manufacturing facilities, multi-family residential projects, special use facilities, and ground leases. He has negotiated space leases for more than 16 million square feet locally and elsewhere for commercial landlords and tenants. Mr. West is listed in Best Lawyers in America, Real Estate (2007-2008 edition), and recommended by The Legal 500 for Real Estate: District of Columbia, Transactions and Finance, in 2007. In 1994, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Association of Yale Alumni. He is a graduate of Yale University and Georgetown University Law Center. He has previously been Co-Chair of the D.C. Bar’s Real Estate Section.
