Mark Duvall Joins Environmental Practice Group of Beveridge & Diamond, P.C.

Washington, D.C. -- Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. is pleased to announce that Mark N. Duvall has joined the Firm as a Principal and member of its Environmental Practice Group.  Mr. Duvall joins the Firm from the legal department of The Dow Chemical Company, where he served as lead environmental counsel for the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), and their foreign counterparts.

“I have known Mark as a client for many of the years he has spent at both Union Carbide and Dow.  He will bring a strong client perspective to our Firm,” said Karl Bourdeau, Chair of the Firm’s Chemicals, Products, and Nanotechnology section.

Mr. Duvall’s practice focuses on environmental regulations related to chemicals, pesticides, and products as well as occupational safety and health.  He served as the company attorney for matters related to TSCA, FIFRA, FFDCA, and their foreign counterparts.  He has handled both litigation and counseling on matters arising under OSHA, and he has experience with biotechnology regulation, EPCRA, Chemical Weapons Convention, and other chemical-related statutes.  His work has included regulation of consumer products by the CPSC and FTC, and counseling on green marketing claims.  He has spoken and written extensively on regulation of nanomaterials under TSCA, FIFRA, and FFDCA.

Mr. Duvall is Chair of the Committee on Pesticides, Chemical Regulation, and Right-to-Know of the Section on Environment, Energy, and Resources, of the American Bar Association, and is Co-Chair of Phase II of the section’s Nanotechnology Project.  He is a graduate of  Amherst College and the University of Virginia School of Law.
