Beveridge & Diamond

Jimmy Slaughter & Gary Smith Quoted in the Daily Record

Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., February 25, 2010

Jimmy Slaughter and Gary Smith, litigators in Beveridge & Diamond's Washington and San Francisco offices, were quoted in the February 18, 2010 issue of the Daily Republic, in the article, Judge Hears Case On Measure E.

Measure E, a county voter initiative, attempts to severely restrict the amount of solid waste that can be disposed in Solano County, California, from out-of-county sources.  The Sierra Club and other groups brought a lawsuit to compel Solano County to enforce Measure E.  Mr. Slaughter and Mr. Smith represent a coalition of over twenty solid waste companies that support the County in opposing Measure E.  Mr. Slaughter and Mr. Smith argued that Measure E is unconstitutional as a violation of the federal Commerce Clause, the California Constitution limits on police powers, and other laws.
