Richard Davis and Karen Hansen to Headline Workshop on Clean Water Act Enforcement

Beveridge & Diamond Principals Richard Davis and Karen Hansen will speak at the upcoming National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ Wet Weather Consent Decree Workshop on April 30 and May 1, 2014.  Mr. Davis’s presentation, “A Case Study in Action: The Chicago Consent Decree Experience & Lessons for Other Utilities,”  will focus on the recently-lodged consent decree and stormwater management plan for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.   Ms. Hansen’s session, “Stories From the Front Lines: Tips and Advice on What Works (And What Doesn’t) in Enforcement Negotiations,” will explore the variety of factors that can impact the outcome of consent decree negotiations.

Beveridge & Diamond represents a number of municipal and regional water systems nationwide on stormwater and wastewater matters, as well as other Clean Water Act enforcement and permitting issues. Beveridge & Diamond’s Clean Water Act team has recently secured two favorable results for major U.S. municipal water utilities. In October 2013, a federal and state consent decree for SSO reduction efforts by the San Antonio Water System was entered by a federal court following multi-year negotiations led by the Firm, and, in January 2014, Beveridge & Diamond secured judicial approval the $3.7 billion Clean Water Act “Deep Tunnel” project that the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has been diligently constructing since 1975.
