Karen Hansen and Peter Schaumberg will both speak at this conference on Thursday May 22, 2008. Ms. Hansen is co-chair for the two-day event. She will conduct the conference introduction and overview at 8:30a.m., and will speak on Lessons from Recent Cases at 10:15a.m., discussing recent case law in ocean use and development, and their implications.
Peter Schaumberg will speak on New Twists for Coastal Energy: Layering Renewables on a Regulatory Structure for Oil and Gas at 3:45p.m. He will discuss regulatory and technical perspectives on locating, permitting, and siting offshore ocean renewable energy projects; the status and prognosis for the new MMS rules implementing the Energy Policy Act of 2005; and, FERC's expedited permitting for tidal energy.
