Biography

Deepti uses her consulting and environmental background to counsel clients on ESG-related matters across industry sectors.

Deepti works with clients in a variety of matters relating to international regulations, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, supply chain, product stewardship, green marketing, due diligence and reporting requirements, and the circular economy. Her regulatory work involves tracking international, federal, state, and local EHS and ESG laws to anticipate changes in client responsibilities and direct corporate decision-making such that her clients can stay ahead of competitors. Deepti works closely in advising clients on topics related to waste with a particular focus on multilateral environmental agreements including the Basel Convention. Her international experience focuses on the circular economy, international and federal laws related to waste recycling and disposal, plastics, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)/Paris Agreement, tax incentives for environmental projects, and carbon trading.

Deepti has led a number of negotiations for carbon offset procurement from project identification, where she accounted for domestic and foreign guidance, to end purchase and retirement of verified emissions reductions. She has also led negotiations for over a dozen clean energy infrastructure projects.

Deepti’s past legal and project management work in the non-profit and corporate worlds have helped build the foundation for her current practice as an ESG attorney where she can stand in the shoes of her clients and understand the perspectives of diverse stakeholders to develop holistic solutions to some of the most pressing issues related to climate change, extended producer responsibility, and resource efficiency.

Deepti is dedicated to pro bono service handling matters relating to immigration/asylum, fisheries disputes, green certifications, tribal citizenship, conservation, urban farming, and disaster relief and resiliency. She is also part of the Environmental Law Institute’s (ELI) Emerging Leaders Initiative where she has opportunities to learn from current leaders in the environmental law space and network with her peers who will lead the future of environmental law.
