Roy Prather to Teach Environmental Justice Class at Georgetown University Law Center as Adjunct Professor

Principal Roy Prather (Baltimore) recently joined the faculty of Georgetown University Law Center as an Adjunct Professor. Roy’s environmental justice (EJ) course explores the frameworks that inform the analysis of EJ issues, including how to apply EJ principles to a wide range of areas to ensure equity and access and to focus efforts on resolving complex issues involving overburdened communities.

Roy commented, “I am proud to return to my alma mater and look forward to teaching the next generation of lawyers about environmental justice principles at a time when they have never been more important to a world facing issues such as climate change, natural resource and water constraints, and waste management and pollution challenges.”

Roy serves on B&D’s management committee and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) committee. He maintains a national practice focusing on federal and state litigation and EJ matters across multiple industry sectors. He also gives back to the community by serving on the National Aquarium’s Board of Directors and as a founding member of the Black BigLaw Pipeline, Inc. In 2021, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) recognized Roy with its Rising Star Award. Additionally, The Defense Research Institute (DRI) recently appointed Roy to its Toxic Tort & Environmental Law (TTEL) Committee as Vice Chair and Program Chair.
