Steve Jawetz and John Cruden Speaking at Ad-Hoc Industry's 2018 Natural Resources Symposium

Principals John Cruden and Steve Jawetz (Washington, DC) will speak at the Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Management Group's 11th Annual Natural Resources Symposium, taking place in Washington, DC, from September 25 to 26. The Symposium examines the law and science of current practice under US laws and ways to enhance efficiency, maximize benefits, foster private/public partnerships, support innovation, and more. This year's symposium is titled "Blue Print for Change: New Approaches and Needed Changes to Managing Natural Resource Risks, Liabilities, and Opportunities."

John Cruden will speak in a roundtable titled "Case Law since New Bedford Harbor," which will take place from 10:30am to 11:30am (EDT) on September 25. The roundtable will take a look at what has happened since the series of key decisions resulting from the New Bedford Harbor case, which continues to shape outcomes of cases nationally, including what has helped shape the limits to liability and what is missing.

Steve will speak in a segment titled "Hazardous Waste Case/Site Review: Extracting Lessons Learned and Elements of Successful Scientific and Legal Practices," which will take place from 12:45pm to 1:45pm (EDT) on September 25. The segment will focus on a limited set of Natural Resource Damages sites/cases under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act and other federal and state laws in order to extract “lessons learned” with emphasis on leveraging approaches and practices that have proved effective for both potentially responsible parties and government and could or should be replicated and/or expanded to other sites.
