Megan Withroder Elected Director of Air & Waste Management Association Puget Sound Chapter

The Puget Sound Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) elected Associate Megan Withroder (Seattle) as Director for a two-year term from 2020 to 2022. The position involves facilitating the management of the chapter, including organizing and running chapter events, attending monthly board meetings and communications and coordination with A&WMA and community.

"As a new resident of the Pacific Northwest, I am looking forward to meeting other members of the association and becoming more involved with the air and waste issues present in this region," said Megan. "I also hope to bring recognition to B&D as a leader on air and waste legal issues in the Pacific Northwest and the country."

Founded in 1907, A&WMA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, professional organization enhancing knowledge and expertise by providing a neutral forum for information exchange, professional development, networking opportunities, public education, and outreach to more than 5,000 environmental professionals in 65 countries. A&WMA promotes global environmental responsibility and increases the effectiveness of organizations to make critical decisions that benefit society.

The Puget Sound Chapter, part of A&WMA's Pacific Northwest International Section (PNWIS), represents A&WMA members who live in the greater Seattle metropolitan area from Olympia to Bellingham. The PNWIS serves Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington in the United States, as well as British Columbia in Canada, with eight chapters throughout the region including the Puget Sound Chapter. PNWIS is a catalyst for environmental leadership by providing a neutral forum for discussion, education, and networking on technical issues relating to environmental management in the U.S., Pacific Northwest, and Western Canada.

Before joining B&D, Megan served as primary environmental counsel for generation fleet support at Rocky Mountain Power, working on Regional Haze compliance, Title V air pollution litigation, NSR/PSD compliance, as well as RCRA and CWA litigation. She tracked developments in state and federal environmental regulations, case law, and agency guidance and prepared administrative comments on applicable state and federal rulemakings. Megan also has significant commercial transactional experience, working with coal supply contracts, operations and management agreements, and retirement and decommissioning agreements.
