Zaheer maintains an international environmental regulatory practice, working with clients across industrial sectors.
He joined the firm following his graduation as valedictorian from Pace University School of Law and obtaining a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. During this time, Zaheer focused on researching issues of international law, renewable energy project development, land use planning, and environmental litigation.
Before law school, Zaheer served as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education Fellow in the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA's) Office of Water in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he worked as an environmental scientist focusing on hydrogeological analysis and site remediation.
While at Pace Law School and the Yale School of Forestry, Zaheer clerked at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and at the New York Attorney General’s Environmental Protection Bureau. During this time he worked on international, federal and state energy issues. Zaheer also served as a judicial intern for Senior Judge Deborah Batts in the Southern District of New York and worked with international organizations on issues of comparative international law. He worked as Peer Review Editor of Pace Environmental Law Review and worked as a researcher at the Pace Energy and Climate Center. He also received the New York Bar Association’s Environmental Law Fellowship. Zaheer focused his course of study on energy project siting and development, with a particular focus on solar energy development in Connecticut and the water-energy nexus nationally. He served as a student consultant in the Yale Environmental Protection Clinic, where he wrote on issues of comparative international law and presented findings to multinational public and private parties.
Zaheer’s current practice involves reviewing corporate guidelines and procedures for compliance with domestic and foreign laws and standards. His work has touched on a wide range of topics, including contracts, permitting, administrative law, regulatory law, regulatory tracking, and dispute resolution through arbitration and litigation. Zaheer’s pro bono experience includes extensive work on topics of administrative law for advocacy organizations, work advising clients on various immigration and documentation issues, production of Spanish and English documents, and in the preparation and execution of wills and trusts documents.
