Jamie Auslander Discusses NEPA Rulemaking with E&E News

E&E News

Principal Jamie Auslander (Washington, DC) recently spoke with E&E News to discuss the potential implications of the Trump administration's interim final rule that will soon remove all existing White House Council on Environment Quality (CEQ) regulations implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Since 1977, these rules have guided federal agencies in analyzing the effects of building pipelines, transmission lines, highways, and wind farms.

In "3 questions answered about NEPA under Trump," Jamie points out that Congress and the courts will likely limit the effects of the Trump administration's repeal of CEQ's rules.

Jamie adds that some agencies may pass new regulations or provide informal guidance, rather than changing their NEPA procedures, as they respond to the administration's decision to revoke the CEQ's rules.
