Environmental – Of Counsel or Shareholder
Beveridge & Diamond, is seeking a senior environmental lawyer with at least 10 years of experience who is ready to serve as the lead day-to-day attorney on sophisticated environmental matters, manage client relationships, supervise and mentor associates, and help expand the Firm's California practice. Candidates may come from private practice, government service, or a combination of both. This position offers an opportunity to work alongside nationally recognized environmental practitioners while building a long-term leadership role within the Firm.
This role entails being the lead day-to-day lawyer on a variety of matters and involves supervising and mentoring more junior lawyers and consulting, as needed, with senior lawyers on strategic decisions. We’re looking for accountable and driven advocates who have a broad range of environmental law experience and are committed to continuing to learn and grow and helping others to do the same. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience handling complex environmental matters, including substantial litigation, regulatory counseling, agency practice, or a combination thereof. Candidates should have experience with a broad range of California and Federal environmental statutes and regulations, including those governing contaminated sites, clean water, clean air, hazardous and solid waste, endangered species, environmental-impact assessment, permitting, and enforcement.
We welcome candidates with significant experience practicing before or within California environmental agencies, including the State Water Resources Control Board and Regional Water Quality Control Boards, California Air Resources Board, local Air Pollution Control Districts, Department of Toxic Substances Control, California Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
While a portable book of business is welcome, it is not required. We are equally interested in accomplished lawyers who have developed strong client-service skills, substantial environmental expertise, and a desire to build long-term client relationships within the nation's leading environmental law firm.

Requirements
- Substantial experience practicing environmental law in California across a broad range of sub-disciplines.
- Current member of the California bar.
- Experience handling matters involving federal and California environmental agencies, enforcement actions, permitting proceedings, environmental reviews, and complex environmental disputes.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

Compensation
For successful Of Counsel and Shareholders, total compensation is likely to exceed the base salary range due to origination credit and other forms of productivity- and performance-based compensation. These additional components of compensation vary widely and are determined in accordance with the Firm’s compensation policies.
In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the initial base salary range for this position is $280,000 - $350,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. This range reflects the base salary that the Firm reasonably expects to pay for an Of Counsel-level position.
