Biography
Alejandro draws on his experience as an environmental attorney in Chile to guide clients through complex regulatory and litigation challenges.
Before joining B&D and earning his LL.M. in Environmental Law and Policy from Stanford Law School, Alejandro practiced environmental law at a Chilean law firm, where he advised both Chilean and international companies on the development of renewable energy and power transmission projects. He led a multidisciplinary team in securing regulatory permits and concessions for the establishment of Chile’s first high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line, a project valued at more than $2.5 billion USD.
Additionally, Alejandro has extensive experience in water law, having advised Chilean and international clients on the planning, sustainability, and efficient use of water rights. He has led defense strategies in sanctioning proceedings involving alleged water rights violations and successfully secured the constitution and judicial regularization of surface and groundwater rights in Chilean civil courts, enhancing legal certainty in water ownership and use.
Alejandro complements his regulatory and litigation work with transactional skills. He has negotiated land leases, easements, and sales with landowners, indigenous communities, and international companies to facilitate the development of strategic energy and water-related infrastructure projects.
