Biography
Alyse uses her experience as a federal prosecutor to assist clients with compliance, enforcement, internal investigations, and white collar matters.
As Co-Chair of B&D’s Environmental Crimes, White Collar practice, and former Assistant U.S. Attorney, Alyse offers clients strategic counsel on high-stakes enforcement and compliance matters, particularly in complex or large-scale white-collar litigation and internal investigations. Her strong background in criminal investigation, prosecution, and litigation complements the firm’s robust environmental and natural resource regulatory practices.
Highlights of Alyse’s experience at Beveridge & Diamond include:
- Defending a municipal client in a large federal investigation into alleged Clean Water Act violations at a wastewater treatment plant.
- Running a complex internal investigation into potential regulatory fraud and kickbacks by a company employee, which resulted in significant recovery of funds by the client.
- Representing individual clients in a large-scale federal asbestos investigation and preparing them for government proffer.
- Defending a company in an EPA criminal investigation of potential Clean Air Act violations at an industrial facility where the client received a declination of criminal prosecution.
As an AUSA, Alyse served as a Deputy Chief in the ECAS and Felony Trial Unit. She also served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney and Associate Director of the Civic Legal Corps, a non-profit entity designed to close the gap in access to legal services.
Throughout her career, Alyse has participated in numerous diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) efforts in various capacities, currently serving as Co-Chair of B&D’s DE&I Committee. She has also served as Eastern Regional Director of the National Black Prosecutor’s Association, Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee of the DC Women’s Bar Association, and on the Diversity Committee in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
Alyse regularly speaks with major news outlets on high-stakes criminal trials. She also frequently presents on and advocates for diversity in the legal field.
