B&D Principal Ryan Carra Quoted in Bloomberg Law about Proposed Rule Impacting Asbestos

Bloomberg Law quoted Principal Ryan Carra (Washington, DC) in an article titled, "Asbestos, Talc Imports, Manufacture Data Due Under EPA Rule (2)." The article discusses a regulation proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) that would require companies that make or import asbestos, including products containing it, to report the volume of asbestos and other information to EPA. The regulation would impact companies that mine, process, make, or import asbestos, including minerals that contain asbestos such as talc and vermiculite. Candlesticks, roofing materials, pottery clay, and floor coverings are among the variety of products that can contain asbestos.

Ryan, Co-Chair of the firm’s Chemicals Regulation practice group, said, "Article manufacturers are realizing they can no longer hit the snooze button on TSCA." He went on to say, "It's time to review and comment on every proposal."

Comments on the proposed rule are due to EPA by July 5.
