Biography

Chris counsels companies on enforcement strategy, compliance, and high-stakes disputes.

He focuses on white collar defense, internal investigations, civil litigation, and contaminated site cleanup and remediation. He has experience leading trials, preparing witnesses, briefing dispositive motions, and facilitating discovery.

Chris’s white collar defense work focuses on alleged violations of major environmental and workplace statutes, including the Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). He uses his prior prosecutorial experience to identify legal and operational risks and develop responsive strategies.

Chris also represents companies in civil litigation related to claims such as trespass and nuisance, along with other environmental actions arising under state and federal law. He works to narrow issues early, challenge causation and damages theories, and pursue efficient resolutions aligned with the client’s business objectives.

Chris also advises clients on cleanup liability, allocation, and remediation strategy under state and federal statutes, such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) to effectively clean up contaminated properties.

In all aspects of his practice, Chris leverages his scientific education to work with clients and consultants to manage technical complexity and advance practical outcomes.

Before joining Beveridge & Diamond, Chris worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Washington State. While in law school, he clerked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Oregon and the EPA. Prior to his legal career, Chris worked as a marine biologist studying sharks in The Bahamas and salmonids in California. During this time, he co-authored a scientific publication analyzing the migratory patterns of great hammerhead sharks.

Outside of the office, Chris enjoys SCUBA diving, sailing, and hiking.
