John Guttmann Presenting D.C. Bar Class on Natural Resource Damages Litigation

Principal John Guttmann (New York) will co-present the District of Columbia Bar Association (D.C. Bar)'s class, "An Introduction to Environmental Liability’s 'Sleeping Giant' – Natural Resource Damages (NRD) Litigation 2019." The program will take place on Wednesday, November 6 in Washington, DC.

Covering the fundamental concepts involved in natural resource damages litigation and assessment, the faculty will distinguish between remediation and restoration, as well as compensation for interim losses to the public. The class will explore the scale of the historic recoveries obtained by federal and state trustees, including recoveries related to the Exxon Valdez oil spill, Deepwater Horizon event, and the contamination of groundwater by MTBE gasoline, and will conclude with a discussion of current and anticipated large-scale claims for natural resource damages.

2 hours of CLE credit will be available. For more information, and to register, please see D.C. Bar's website
