Mike maintains a diverse litigation and regulatory practice across a variety of environmental media. 

Prior to joining Beveridge & Diamond, he represented the Executive Director in enforcement litigation and provided legal counsel to program areas as an attorney at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). 

Mike's recent litigation/dispute resolution experience includes:

  • Supporting the favorable resolution of contested waste and air permitting matters, including propounding and responding to discovery requests, briefing dispositive motions, deposing a protestant party, and drafting key settlement documents.
  • Assisting with the defense of Clean Water Act (CWA) criminal charges arising from alleged wastewater pretreatment violations.
  • Representing a seller at mediation against the buyer’s breach of contract claims related to the facility’s compliance with Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) regulations.

Mike's recent regulatory experience includes:

  • Advising clients on various solid waste disposal and wastewater permitting matters under the Texas Solid Waste Disposal Act, Texas Water Code, and other state and federal laws.
  • Serving as a member of a team that assisted a major oilfield services company with Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) compliance audit.
  • Counseling clients regarding compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations with a focus on Process Safety Management.

While at the University of Texas School of Law, Mike interned at the Texas Governor’s General Counsel Office and at the Travis County District Attorney’s Office.

Before law school, Mike was a Teach for America Corps member in New York, where he taught sixth and seventh-grade social studies.
