In a Law.com article, “Snapping Back from a One-Year Decline, Pro Mid-Market 50 Revenue Grows 5.4%,” Firmwide Managing Principal Marc Goldstein (Boston) discussed B&D’s record growth in revenue (21.2%) and lawyer headcount (17.6%) in 2024, which led ALM’s Mid-Market 50.

Marc credited the firm’s growth to a strategic shift launched after he became Firmwide Managing Principal two-and-a-half years ago, which focused on expanding capacity to meet rising client demand and the growing complexity of environmental law.

He noted that a dynamic regulatory landscape also contributed to strong results this year, with the new administration's regulatory actions —particularly at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency—creating opportunities for clients, while state and non-governmental organizations step in when federal regulations recede.

"Mostly, clients want predictability. They are less excited about wild swings in policy. They look to us for help whenever there's change," Marc said.

As part of B&D’s focus on capacity building, the firm hired Chief Talent Officer Amy Tenney Curren in 2024. Amy has led B&D’s talent strategy, strengthening recruitment, retention, and integration initiatives while preserving the firm’s distinctive culture.

B&D continued its growth trajectory in 2025 with the addition of seven lawyers from Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP, a premier California environmental law boutique, in the firm’s San Francisco office.

B&D holds top-tier rankings for environmental law and litigation from legal directories and ranking services, including Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, Law360, and The Legal 500. Best Lawyers named B&D the 2025 “Law Firm of the Year" for Environmental Litigation. Many of our more than 160 lawyers are similarly recognized as outstanding practitioners.
