Biography
Sharon counsels clients on regulatory compliance, with a focus on product stewardship, mobile source regulation, and waste management.
Product Stewardship
Sharon advises clients on compliance with plastics and circular economy laws and ESG disclosure requirements. This includes advising companies on state extended producer responsibility (EPR) laws governing the use of packaging for products and postconsumer minimum recycled content. Sharon also regularly advises clients on California state-specific product issues, such as material restrictions and labeling requirements under Proposition 65 and California’s Safer Consumer Products Regulation, and marketing and environmental claims related to “truth-in-labeling laws.”
Mobile Source Regulation
Sharon helps clients navigate mobile source regulations, specifically California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations applicable to fleet operators and auto manufacturers. Her clients include heavy-duty truck and engine manufacturers and operators, locomotive manufacturers and operators, and non-road mobile source operators. Sharon has also prepared comments on behalf of clients on proposed federal and state air regulations.
Waste Management
Sharon advises clients on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste regulations and California’s Hazardous Waste Control laws. She works with companies on waste compliance program assessments and compliance. Her work also includes representing waste treatment and disposal facilities.
Prior to receiving her LLM from Stanford University, Sharon practiced environmental law in India for four years. Sharon has experience navigating Indian domestic environmental policies such as the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and the Air Act, 1981, and international climate change agreements such as the Paris Agreement.
