Latinvex Names B&D a Top Environmental Law Firm in Latin America for 2021

Latinvex ranked Beveridge & Diamond the #1 Environmental law firm and a top International firm for 2021 in its annual ranking of “Latin America's Top International Law Firms.” Latinvex previously named B&D to this list in 2015, 2019, and 2020.

“Our Latin American environmental law practice group remains one of the most diverse and dynamic in the United States and continues to expand into all facets of environmental, sustainability, and social governance issues. We are grateful to Latinvex for its recognition of our practice group’s work in Latin America,” said Principal Maddie Boyer (Austin), the founder and leader of the firm’s Latin America practice group.

B&D’s Latin American practice group offers clients deep substantive expertise, language capabilities, and business savvy. Our core Latin American practitioners are fluent in either Portuguese or Spanish; have studied, lived, or worked in the field of environmental law in Latin America; are licensed in Brazil; and have written articles or co-authored treatises relating to Latin American environmental law.

This year, B&D’s Latin America vanguard practice has been focused on emerging issues such as plastics regulations in the Americas, project and permitting work, and the wave of regional chemicals developments, for example, Brazil’s technical standard on chemical labeling and hazard communications, Colombia’s proposed new chemical regulatory framework, and Mexico’s changing chemical regime. In December, B&D hosted a virtual Latin American Chemicals Symposium that featured a panel of internal and external speakers who discussed trends and developments in Latin American chemicals laws and emerging GHS and chemical inventory regulations in Chile and Colombia, among other topics.

We have also continued to focus on supply chain and product stewardship issues, which are rapidly evolving to embrace international ESG standards including human rights. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to support our tech center clients’ compliance with product content and labeling, e-waste take back requirements, and data center compliance. We also have continued to offer robust support through our Brazil practice, which provides environmental transactional, compliance, regulatory and permitting legal advice.

As part of our broader International practice group, our Latin America practice contributes to B&D’s broad reach throughout the globe. As companies pursue global trade and investment opportunities, we help them identify, understand, and comply with the expanding body of international, national, and sub-national environmental law. Our lawyers work with clients in diverse industry sectors to resolve critical environmental, health, and safety and natural resource challenges related to their facilities and products around the world.
