Megan Brillault Elected to ACOEL Fellows Class of 2023

On July 27, the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) named Principal Megan Brillault (New York) as a Fellow in their 2023 class. ACOEL’s Class of 2023 Fellows are environmental lawyers selected for their distinguished experience, high standards of practice, and substantial contributions to the field of environmental law.

Megan is one of 27 new ACOEL Fellows selected for their dedication and leadership in the practice of environmental law. ACOEL membership is by invitation only and members are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field, aiding the development of environmental law nationally.

Megan is a national leader in defending class and mass action environmental and toxic tort litigation. In addition to her national practice in nuisance and class action defense, Megan specializes in cost recovery and contribution actions under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and related state laws, and toxic tort and product liability defense. Megan is Chambers ranked in Environmental Law, she has been named a New York Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, annually since 2013, and was recognized in Environmental Litigation as a Next Generation Partner by The Legal 500 in 2023. 

Megan is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the firm and the legal community. As an active alumni fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), Megan has led LCLD’s Outreach Committee, which focuses on community outreach and volunteer opportunities for its members. She also served as a member of LCLD’s Executive Committee. Megan helped create and was a co-chair of the National Association of Women Lawyers’ Women in Litigation affinity group, organizing webinars, training events, and networking gatherings for women lawyers.
