October 2 – Law360 named B&D litigator Eric L. Klein (Principal, Boston) one of its 2023 MVPs in the environmental law category. According to Law360, MVPs “have distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.” Of the more than 900 submissions to determine the winners, the 2023 MVP class consists of 171 lawyers from 76 firms and 37 practice areas – 5 in environmental law.

Eric’s recent accomplishments include:

• winning a major decision denying certification of a class action in federal court in Miami for firm client Waste Connections, Inc.
• securing a significant ruling from an EPA administrative law judge that likely slowed or fully derailed an EPA national enforcement initiative under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
• devising an innovative approach to federal Superfund litigation that resulted in a nearly $1 billion victory for a nine-defendant joint defense group at one of the highest-profile environmental sites in California history.
