Two Beveridge & Diamond Principals from Boston Office Join EBC Committees

B&D Boston Principals Marc Goldstein and Eric Klein have been appointed to two leadership committees of the Environmental Business Counsel New England Inc. (EBC), a nonprofit organization, established in 1990. Marc has been appointed to the EBC Solid Waste Management Committee, and Eric has joined the EBC’s Water Resources Committee.

“We are thrilled to continue B&D’s long relationship in leadership roles with EBC, which has become even more important and relevant during the pandemic,” Marc said. Marc is the Managing Principal of B&D’s Boston office and looks forward to contributing his experience representing key companies in the solid waste industry as a member of the Solid Waste Committee’s leadership team.

Eric joined EBC's Water Resources Committee, whose mission is to identify and address water resources issues and opportunities including legislative, regulatory, and policy developments, innovative technologies, and business development opportunities at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. The committee provides objective information from up-to-date and reliable sources including government officials, technology developers, and business experts.

The EBC was the first organization in the United States established to support and foster the development of the environmental industry and it continues to support job growth in emerging environmental and energy businesses.

Beveridge & Diamond’s Boston office consists of nine lawyers all of whom dedicate their practice to environmental and land use issues, including environmental compliance, auditing, and due diligence; defense of citizen suits and enforcement actions before U.S. EPA and MassDEP; solid waste management; energy project development; Title 5 air permitting; zoning and land use permitting and litigation; chemical regulatory issues; and climate change. Marc’s practice focuses on helping clients resolve environmental and land use disputes and to develop residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Eric’s national environmental litigation practice includes representing major companies and municipalities in a wide variety of matters including environmental and mass torts, class actions, and federal citizen suits under environmental statutes including the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Air Act. In particular, Eric has defended some of the most significant environmental citizen suits filed in recent times, including the successful resolution of a $4 trillion Clean Water Act citizen suit filed against a major U.S. transportation company and the defeat of multiple injunction actions in landmark Safe Drinking Water Act litigation in Newark, NJ. Together, Marc and Eric obtained a successful defense jury verdict in federal court in a 17-party cost-recovery lawsuit alleging responsibility for PCB contamination in a waterway in Boston.
