B&D Receives LCLD's Compass Award

B&D is proud to again receive the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD)’s Compass Award, given to law firms and corporations that show a strong commitment to building a more inclusive legal profession.

LCLD is comprised of more than 450 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners—the leaders of the profession—who are committed to ensuring that all talent thrives, with the ultimate goal of building a more equitable and diverse legal profession.

The Compass Award recognizes those individuals and organizations that fulfill all of the following requirements in a single calendar year:

  • Member (Managing Partner/General Counsel) engagement with LCLD;
  • Nominate an LCLD Fellow;
  • Nominate an LCLD Pathfinder;
  • Participate in an LCLD Pipeline program (the 1L Scholars Program or the Success in Law School Mentoring Program).

B&D is a founding member of LCLD and has sponsored a firm lawyer’s participation in the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder Programs every year since their inception. In 2023, Principal Mackenzie Schoonmaker (New York) and Associate Leigh Barton (Washington, DC) were selected to participate in the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinders programs, respectively.

The firm participates in several DE&I efforts in addition to LCLD. Organizations such as the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, the Diversity Lab, and the National Association of Women Lawyers have consistently recognized us for our leadership.
