The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) is a key OSHA provision for manufacturers, importers, and users of hazardous chemicals. Every year, it ranks among the top 10 requirements cited in OSHA enforcement actions. The HCS was updated in 2024. On January 15, 2026, OSHA extended the compliance dates to May 19, 2026 (manufacturers, importers, and distributors evaluating substances); November 20, 2026 (employers with respect to substances); November 19, 2027 (manufacturers, importers, and distributors evaluating mixtures); and May 19, 2028 (employers with respect to mixtures). Principal Mark Duvall (Washington, DC) and Associate Peter Selimos (Washington, DC) will review the updates alongside the standard’s core provisions.
