Julius Redd and Hilary Jacobs Selected to Participate in Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Programs for 2022

Beveridge & Diamond Principal Julius M. Redd (Washington, DC) was selected to participate in the 2022 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program. The LCLD Fellows Program is an ambitious, highly-structured mentoring program that is designed to increase diversity at the leadership level of the nation’s top law firms and corporate legal departments. Julius maintains a broad-based environmental litigation, commercial litigation, and counseling practice. He also co-founded and co-leads B&D's Environmental Justice practice.

Associate Hilary Jacobs (Washington, DC) was selected as a member of the 2022 Pathfinder Program, founded by the LCLD in 2015 to train diverse, high-potential attorneys at LCLD Member organizations in critical career development strategies including programming on leadership and network development. Hilary serves as the Deputy of the Environmental Justice practice group and also advises clients on issues arising under the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and federal, state, and local laws related to the development and operation of renewable energy projects.

“We congratulate Julius and Hilary on their selection to the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinders programs,” said Stacey Sublett Halliday, the chair of B&D’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. “They are both leaders at B&D and within the legal profession. We know they, and the legal profession, will benefit greatly through their participation in their respective LCLD programs.”

B&D is a founding member of LCLD, an organization of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession, and has regularly sponsored firm lawyers participation in LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder Programs since their inception.

B&D values diversity, equity, and inclusion and strives to demonstrate leadership in these areas. We are Mansfield 4.0 Plus Certified by the Diversity Lab, having participated in the Mansfield Rule since the Mansfield 2.0 pilot. The certification indicates that the firm considers diverse lawyers for at least 30% of all significant leadership roles, lateral recruiting, and business development opportunities. The “Plus” status signifies that B&D exceeds the baseline certification requirements – not only considering but achieving 30% representation in firm leadership roles. In 2021, LCLD recognized B&D as a Top Performer and a Compass Award winner. Working together with our clients, we develop, maintain, and participate in a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives involving lawyers and staff firmwide.
