Russ LaMotte Elected Managing Principal of B&D

Russ LaMotte (Washington, DC) was recently elected Managing Principal of Beveridge & Diamond, succeeding Ben Wilson, who served as Managing Principal for the past nine years. Ben continues to serve in a leadership role as B&D's Chairman.

Commenting on the planned leadership succession/transition, Ben said, “Russ is the ideal choice to lead B&D as its next Managing Principal. He brings vision, strategic thinking, a calm demeanor, an impeccable work ethic, and a laser focus on excellence in firm operations and client service. I am delighted to work alongside him to manage the firm’s affairs for the benefit of our clients and professional staff.”

Russ joined B&D in 2006 after clerking for Hon. Judith Rogers on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and then working for nearly 11 years at the U.S. Department of State, where he represented the U.S. Government in designing, negotiating or implementing major multilateral environmental and oceans agreements. At B&D, Russ advises multinational companies on international environmental, biotech and chemical regulatory regimes and multi-jurisdictional product and supply chain regulatory matters.

Russ said, “I look forward to working closely with Ben -- and our fellow shareholders, associates, and staff -- to position B&D to support our clients’ objectives in a changing landscape for our field. The Firm is very fortunate to continue to benefit from Ben’s leadership in his new role as Chairman.”

Russ received his AB, with Distinction, from Cornell University and his JD, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where he was a Ford Fellow in Public International Law.
