Biography

Anthony’s practice focuses on complex environmental litigation and product regulatory compliance, particularly in the automotive and mobile source industries.

For nearly three years, Anthony was extensively involved in the U.S. Department of Justice-appointed Independent Compliance Monitorship and Auditor matter in connection with the Volkswagen AG diesel emissions proceedings. During this experience, he gained tremendous insight into sophisticated domestic and foreign corporate compliance management systems, internal auditing, the creation of complex internal controls, and the automotive product development process, including both domestic and international vehicle emissions certification regimes. He has also had extensive experience advising clients on product compliance policies and other regulatory compliance matters, including advising international organizations and global heavy-duty automotive vehicle and engine manufacturers on regulatory developments.

He also represents a diverse array of clients in complex environmental litigation. He advises clients in contaminated properties and remediation matters under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA/Superfund) and similar state environmental cleanup statutes, as well as toxic tort/product liability claims. Anthony has also represented clients in citizen suits brought under the CWA and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as well as agricultural, chemical, and biotech clients in protecting their data compensation and exclusivity rights under FIFRA.

Anthony co-chairs the firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee, a role he’s had since 2017. He was also the firm’s Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity Pathfinder in 2018 and Fellow in 2024.

Anthony is also very active in pro bono matters, including successfully representing LGBTQ+ asylum seekers fleeing persecution and drafting estate documents.

Earlier in his career, Anthony served as a judicial intern for Judge Patty Shwartz in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and as a law clerk in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. Anthony also served as an environmental advisor to the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York.

Prior to law school, Anthony worked as a chemical analyst in the elemental analysis section of a global company that provides testing and inspection services for the petroleum, refining, and petrochemical industries.
