The Legal 500 Names B&D a Top Tier Environmental and Litigation Firm for 2021

The Legal 500 ranked Beveridge & Diamond as a top tier firm in the environmental regulatory law category for the seventh consecutive year, and as a leading firm in the environmental litigation category for the twelfth consecutive year, in its United States edition.

The editorial references B&D’s role as court-appointed monitor in the Duke Energy coal ash cleanup, our role as environmental counsel to corporate compliance monitor in the Volkswagen AG (VW) emissions settlement as part of VW’s $2.8B criminal plea agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, and our litigation win in a lawsuit challenging an unprecedented air ordinance enacted by the City of Baltimore that conflicts with federal and state air emissions limits and permits on behalf of a coalition of companies and trade associations. It also highlights our work advising Fortune 100 companies on cutting edge regulatory issues related to product stewardship, circular economy, and corporate sustainability/ESG.

While The Legal 500 does not rank lawyers and focuses on assessing the overall strength and depth of practice groups, it highlighted John Cruden (Principal, Washington, DC) as a “leading lawyer” for both environmental litigation and regulatory law, and mentioned 23 additional B&D attorneys:
